We start your dental check-up by warmly welcoming you and asking how you have been since your last visit. We make sure you are feeling fit and well, and give you the chance to tell us any concerns you have about your oral health.
The bulk of your appointment is a careful examination and assessment of your mouth. We look closely at your teeth, gums and soft tissues, checking for any signs of decay, gum disease or other issues. We also carry out an oral cancer screen as standard.
We explain our findings to you, including any further treatment that may be needed. If this is the case, we create a bespoke treatment plan, including the number of appointments required, best course of action, and estimated costs.
To finish your appointment, we offer tailored advice to help you keep your teeth and gums healthy and pain-free at home. This could include teeth brushing techniques, interdental brushes, and tips on diet and lifestyle.

The most common reason for a dental visit is a routine examination, which is essential for your ongoing dental care. At Aspire Dental, we believe in preventive dentistry, so your regular check-ups give us the chance to keep your mouth healthy, with potential problems kept at bay. If left untreated, small issues could worsen and require much more involved treatment to fix.
Regular dental check-ups play a key part in helping you keep your natural teeth for as long as possible. We can also give you personalised advice on everything from brushing techniques and the use of interdental brushes to tips on diet and lifestyle factors.
Book an appointment
We recommend that most people have a dental check-up every six months. This gives you the best chance of keeping your teeth and gums healthy, as we can spot early problems that you may be unaware of. We may suggest some patients visit more frequently, based on individual oral health.
During a check-up, your dentist will thoroughly examine your teeth, gums and mouth, looking for any signs of decay or gum disease. They also make sure the soft tissues of your mouth are healthy, and check for any early signs of oral cancer. You will also receive a bespoke treatment plan for further care, if necessary, and tailored tips and advice.
A dental check-up doesn’t usually include hygiene treatment, although we can book your appointments together for your convenience. Your check-up is based on making sure your teeth and gums are healthy and checking for issues, while your hygienist professionally cleans your teeth, removing plaque and tartar for a healthy and bright smile.
A dental check-up shouldn’t hurt. We are careful and gentle, and always take time to make sure you feel relaxed and comfortable before we begin. You may feel some discomfort if we need to scrape one of your teeth or use suction, but this is short-lived.
We love hearing from you! Whether you need to book an appointment, are a new patient looking for more information, or simply want to ask a question, our friendly team is always happy to help. Get in touch with us today!
