We start with a detailed consultation to make sure you are suitable for dentures. We examine your mouth, discuss the treatment process with you, and give you the chance to ask any questions. Making and fitting dentures can take several appointments, so we arrange these for you.
We take accurate impressions of your mouth. These are used to create a denture model that is checked and adjusted for optimal fit, bite and comfort. When we are both happy with the design, your final set of dentures is created from this.
When your dentures are ready, we show you how to properly fit them in your mouth. Complete dentures are fitted in the top or bottom of your mouth in a similar way to a mouthguard, while partial dentures often rely on the adjacent natural teeth for support.
Adapting to your new dentures can take time, so we give you some tailored tips and advice to help. We also book your review appointment, often two weeks after fitting, so we can check your dentures are still comfortable and working for you.

Caring for your dentures is simple, and important to ensure they last as long as possible. Clean them daily with a soft denture brush and denture cleaner, and remember to keep your gums and any remaining natural teeth clean too. Remove your dentures before you go to bed and store them in water or denture solution to prevent them from drying out.
With a little practice, you’ll be able to enjoy a wide variety of foods with your dentures. It is best to avoid very hard or chewy food that could cause damage, and we recommend starting with softer foods cut into bite-size pieces to help you get used to your dentures. Try not to rush eating so you can focus on the process, and chew on both sides of your mouth to help keep your dentures stable.
